Support for survivors, safety for children, hope for all

Together, we can make a difference

About Us

Welcome to Abebayosh Move Me, a dedicated charity group committed to supporting the Ethiopian community locally and in Ethiopia. We are passionate about making a difference in the lives of those who need our help the most. Through our annual event, we aim to raise funds and assist various individuals and organizations facing significant challenges over the past five years.

In addition to our work in Ethiopia, Abebayosh is committed to feeding the homeless in the DMV area and providing clothing donations annually for Thanksgiving. We also focus on combating human trafficking, offering resources, support, and a network of like-minded individuals passionate about ending this global issue. Join us in our mission to create a world free from human trafficking and to uplift our communities.

Our Mission

At Abebayosh Move Me, our primary goal is to contribute to the betterment of the Ethiopian community in Ethiopia. We strive to make a positive impact by addressing critical needs and supporting those who are marginalized or in distress. Through our fundraising efforts, we aim to create opportunities, alleviate suffering, and empower individuals and communities to thrive.

And let's not forget

How We Help

Every year, we proudly host a vibrant and culturally rich celebration of the Ethiopian New Year—a meaningful event that brings together the Ethiopian diaspora and the broader local community. Volunteers dress in traditional Ethiopian attire and accessories, joyfully singing Abebayosh, a beloved song that symbolizes renewal and the welcoming of a new year. This celebration is more than just tradition—it is a powerful platform for connection, unity, and awareness.

Beyond our cultural events, we are deeply committed to supporting survivors of domestic and gender-based violence. We provide emotional support, financial assistance, and essential resources to help victims rebuild their lives with dignity and strength.

We also believe in the power of prevention and education. Through workshops and community events, we raise awareness about child abduction and child sexual abuse, encouraging families to educate their children early on about safety and boundaries.

Through celebration, education, and support, we strive to build a safer, stronger, and more connected community for all.
